En casi cualquier conflicto, la propaganda es un factor fundamental para aumentar la moral de la población y poder afrontar mejor una época difícil. Durante la Segunda Guerra Mundial, diferentes agencias del gobierno de Estados Unidos realizaron todo tipo de posters, carteles y anuncios en un esfuerzo conjunto para unir al pueblo norteamericano frente a la adversidad.
Buena parte de estos carteles se orientaron al esfuerzo de guerra y su financiación, animando a la población a comprar Bonos de guerra (War Bonds), en una campaña sin precedentes hasta entonces. No fueron en todo caso los únicos, y entre la colección de cientos de carteles diferentes que se realizaron por entonces, se abarcan también magníficas ilustraciones para motivar a los estadounidenses (apelando en muchos casos al patriotismo), buscando así conseguir también el favor de la opinión pública sobre la participación de Estados Unidos en la guerra.
